# Stroop Squared Task
Detailed in Burgoyne et al. (2023), page 2375.
The target stimulus can be "RED" or "BLUE" with the text in either red or blue
on a black background. Two response options are presented, "RED" or "BLUE" with
the text either matching or not.
The text "red" is always located on the right of the display and blue on the
left.
## Details
An example fully incongruent item is shown, then a block of instructions. The
correct answer is indicated by a green checkmark and a description of why each
response choice is correct or incorrect.
A 30 second practice phase must be presented followed by a score from the
practice phase. During the practice phase, the current score is displayed in the
top-right corner of the screen and the amount of time remaining is presented at
the top of the screen. After each trial, feedback is provided by a short
auditory chime or buzzer and the score being updated.
After the 30 seconds, the instructions are displayed again. The participant
clicks a start button to begin. A three second time counts down and then the
test phase begins. They are given 90 seconds to complete as many trials as
possible. Feedback is given on every trial the same way as the practice phase.
At the end of the 90 seconds, the participants are given their final score and
thanked for participation.
